At AVGA, our purpose is to create an environment where junior golfers can develop and train the skills and knowledge needed to become successful tournament-playing golfers.
Our Coaching Philosophy
We align our teaching and training around the American Development Model, which was created to help kids develop the right skills at the right time as they grow, while instilling in them a love for the game of golf. To learn more about the ADM, follow the link below:
Our Development Tracks
At AVGA, we place kids on two development tracks based on their age, skill level, and future goals:
-Recreation Track:
For all kids under the age of 12, and beginner and intermediate level golfers 12-16 years old. The recreation track is meant as a foundational step towards becoming a competitive golfer. On this track, kids learn the fundamentals skills and knowledge of the game, and begin to gain experience on the course and with competition. But the main purpose of the recreation track is to instill in the kids a love of the game of golf.
-Advanced Track:
For golfers 12-18 years old who have made the choice to play competitive golf and want to play the game at the collegiate level. The advanced track is our route for kids that want to take the game seriously and competitively. On this track, we continue to enhance the mechanics of their games, but place a large emphasis on the mental skills of the game, which are paramount to playing golf under pressure.
AVGA Fall Golf Season
During our fall season (Mid-October through mid-December, we will have 6 club teams, which will all have weekly team practices, and five matches played throughout the season.
